The 5 Senses Tour (#5)

I get a little melancholy as winter approaches; it's not my favorite season.  So, my mind has been on those things that keep me warm and lift my spirits....
Adele is a goddess.  I love this song.

I own a print of this Van Gogh painting ("Olives Under the Sunshine")...warms me up just looking at it.
I'm drinking Almond Biscotti black tea from Teavana.  Heaven is. :)
Auntie Mame - one of my all-time favorite movies.  The Bohemian Queen.

Wool blankets - a winter staple. There is this great store not far from my house that sells amazing Pendletons like the ones below.  Want your own?  Shop for one at their website.

5 Senses Tour (#4)

This post, part of the 5 Senses Tour hosted by Bohemian Twilight, has a theme - hot & spicy.  I'm just in one of those moods. ;-)

To me, few things in life are better than chipotle peppers.  Try this amazing recipe...
Caramelized Chipotle Chicken
...and this wine to accompany it.  One of the best affordably priced wines I've had in a long time.
A Reliable Wife, by Robert Goolrick, is a darkly passionate novel that I couldn't put down.
Wearing Dinner by Bobo.  Marina says it all in this review.
Hot & Spicy eyes, courtesy of Joaquin Phoenix (ah, that hypnotic Scorpio gaze).  I miss him on the big screen.

5 Senses Tour

As Thanksgiving approaches and winter is knocking at my door, I've been thinking of things that warm my soul...

This is a living room I would never want to leave!

I took this photo just after my friends had left a recent party I had...I lit maple scented candles and served a punchbowl filled with hot cider (with spiced rum, natch!).  My cottage smelled amazing.  It was a great night!

Big sweaters...wrap yourself up in a hug.

Coffee foam art!  These photos are amazing. Look almost too pretty to drink. Almost.

The Sound of Music always makes me feel good. If ever there was a bohemian nun, Julie Andrews was it!

Warm wishes to you, my friends...

The 5 Senses Tour

I'm excited to announce that I've joined Bohemian Twilight's 5 Senses Tour.  Every Tuesday (my first post is a day late), participating bloggers will write about things that enliven their senses. Monica's blog is one of my favorites ~ click on the link below to learn more and meet Monica...

Book:
I bought this when it was first published (1999), and re-read this beautiful book every year.  Pen/Faulkner nominee.  It's also been made into a movie, but I haven't watched it - just have a feeling it will ruin the magic (but if you've seen it, do comment and perhaps allay my fears!).

"Such a pleasure to read...nothing less than a triumph." -New York Times Book Review

Music:
Listening to Sara's soulful voice is always a pleasure.

Movie:
Just watched this for the first time the other night ~ classic 70s American cultural film about a woman regaining her bearings after her husband leaves her for a younger woman - minus the cliches and stereotypes.  Sprinkled with great humor and ultimately uplifting, it garnered several Academy Award nominations: Best Picture, Best Actress (Jill Clayburgh), and Best Writing & Screenplay. Great performances.

Smell:

Wearing my signature scent.  You can read my review of it on my fragrance blog, The Perfumed Parlour.

 Design:
My own creation, Mystery, adorns my neck today.
